This paper analyzes the educational thought of Antonio Gramsci (1981-1937) about the Italian school organization between the years 1922 and 1932 and historically contextualizes the gramscian analysis and marks the ripening of his ideas presented in Quaderni del Carcere. Gramsci analyzed the educational reform of the fascist State, known as ´Gentile Reform´ (1922-1923) and pointed out that it was returned to the maintenance of cultural privileges of one group over the other, preventing the access of the subalterns to the university and the humanistic culture. Promoted by Giovanni Gentile (1875-1944) and Giuseppe Lombardo-Radice (1879-1938), the Italian school organization was regarded as democratic, because it extended the offer of vocational education and allowed the entry of the subalterns in the job market. In Notebook 12, Gramsci (2007) criticized the Italian school organization and its seemingly democratic character and proposed the creation of a single school, forming the general culture, humanistic, philosophical, and disinterested in the immediate formation of the worker.

The struggle for hegemony and the action of intellectuals in the cultural formation of social groups, subjects which are the central theme of Antonio Gramsci's (1891-1937) analyses, have shown the importance of education for the consolidation of a hegemony, whether through schooling or non-school education, carried out by political parties and trade unions. The aim of this paper is to analyze the ideas underlying Gramsci's propositions on education taking as its starting point a study of the Quaderni del carcere, as it showed that the educational action undertaken by intellectual groups was impregnated by/with contradictions which influenced the development and success of the working classes in drawing up a counter hegemony.
The current study analysis the Antonio Gramsci's educational thought (1891-1937) and explores the relation between cultural issue and the gramscian's educative program, the Unitary School, and highlights its dialectical character. It's a reading of the Gramsci's work that demonstrated the dialectical character of his thought. By proposing the Unitary School, Gramsci defended a free and quality school for everyone it was able to promoting a pedagogical work in the appropriation of the general culture, humanist, serve as an instrument for the acquisition of discipline and the autonomy necessary to the physical and intellectual development of the new generations.

In his classic study "Americanism and Fordism", written in 1934, Antonio Gramsci dedicated himself to analyzing the influence of Taylorism/Fordism on American society's social and cultural development, especially transformations operated in the political culture of the factory labourer. Revealing in Taylorism/Fordism capitalism's ample ideological strategy, Gramsci perceived in this system more than a simple set of methods of organizing and managing labour activities. It was, above all, a set of principles that persuaded and coerced labourers in their actions beyond the companies' space, conforming them within ideas and a lifestyle perfectly adequate to the necessities of the emerging mass industrialization. In this effort, Gramsci attained significant clarity regarding the magnitude of the influence of the social structure, of the State and of the class struggle over the development of the productive forces, mainly in regards to the management of labour, demonstrating the dialectic character of these spheres. Our goal in this work, is to resume points of this Gramscian reading of Taylorism/Fordism, observing the scope and depth of his arguments.

In this article are defended the possibility and the necessity of the teaching of the reception of art works in school education. Firstly, some relations between art and the development of both the human species and the individual are analysed in Georg Lukács and Lev Vygotsky's works. In order to put in question the old assumption that opposes education and instruction, the discussion made by Gramsci on the grammatical teaching of Latin and Greek in the traditional school education is explored. In the article is concluded its path analysing the intentional and systematic formation of the reception of art works provided by school education based on Aleksei N. Leontiev's works on the appropriation process of culture by the individual.

Based on the study of Notebook 25, this text analyses the similarities and differences between the meaning that Gramsci gives to the "subaltern social groups" and the configuration of popular movements in Brazil and Latin America in these last decades. On the one hand, our attentions are focused on the contradictions and the risks to which the popular movements are exposed to, on their "casual subversiveness", weaknesses and cooptation. On the other hand, we highlight "the inestimable value of their initiatives, their "creative spirit", their peculiar political-pedagogical experiences and the design of an alternative project of society for addressing the current world-system crisis..

This paper intends to conduct a search on some theoretical concepts of Gramscian theory in order to scrutinize their relevance to the Community Communication. Beginning with the concepts of expanded state theory and civil society we discuss the centrality of culture and the ideological diffusion mechanisms for the maintenance of power in capitalist societies. By addressing Gramscian topics such as cathartic moment and must-be we seek to emphasize the political aspect - in its broad sense - and we focus on community media as a propitious environment for the occurrence of the cathartic process. Finally, we propose counter-hegemonic media as a relevant expression to characterize the so-called community media. We emphasize that this is a terminological approach with the aim to contribute to a political and open and less restrictive analysis of these eminent private apparatuses of counter-hegemony.
The text defends two ideas: the first one affirms that high school is the strategic educational level in the system and has a pedagogical meaning in itself. Therefore, it is considered that it is a mistake to define it as intermediate, heteronomous between the grades of elementary school and university or the job market. The second idea questions that an author such as Antonio Gramsci could be used to justify both theoretically and dialectically an early professionalizing program for high school. This assertion is based on the philological and hermeneutic analysis of Gramsci’s texts. The study concludes that the implementation of quality unitary high schools in Brazil, requires deep reform of the regular high school, especially in the public sector.
