In order to adequately deal with Gramsci's view of education, we can't remove the constitutive link of this theme with another issue, so crucial for him: the question of hegemony. We need therefore to quote the original debate that, in the second half of the Twentieth century, fixed the crucial importance of this term. But we need also to pursue our analysis of Gramsci's work in a rigorous diachronic perspective, looking at the whole evolution and route of his thought. Only in this way we can avoid partial interpretations of the question of hegemony. A partiality that fails the authentic perspective of Gramsci's pedagogy: emancipation, in a strong and universal sense that is strictly linked to philosophy of praxis.

it took six weeks for any official communications to reach Moscow from the Italian
executive. When the two reports arrived, they contradicted each other. The Comintern,
startled, expressed doubts about the capability and political direction of the PCd'I.
Gramsci reported, "Everyone was in agreement in insisting that the problem was not
one of organization but of politics" The Comintern's verdict on the state of the Party
had confirmed Gramsci's own views on what was wrong with the PCd'I under Bordiga.
The separation between the leaders, the Party and the class would have to be bridged.
The rigidity of the organizational structures meant that the Party could not react to
changing circumstances and differing objectives. Bordiga's refusal to work with other
groups continued to limit Party growth. It was time to rethink the ethos and to change
the direction of the Party, not only to comply with the Comintern United Front, but
in order to survive. The Comintern then sent Gramsci to Vienna to support the Italian
Party, and in the hope that he would take over the leadership; a difficult task, given
Bordiga's popularity and the fact that this change would have to be accomplished from
a distance by letter. In this article, I consider how Gramsci achieved this; his methodology
of coaching his colleagues by correspondence. Examined in detail, what emerges
is a masterclass in distance learning.
obiettivi diversi.
Esaminato in dettaglio, ciò
che emerge è una lezione magistrale di apprendimento a distanza., table_contents=, titolo_collana=, collocazione=, relazioni_titolo_collegato=[Gramsciana], relazioni_identificativo=[], relazioni_tipo_relazione=[padre], relazioni_numero_volume=[3], relazioni_numero_issue=[], relazioni_start=[], relazioni_end=[], relazioni_pagine=[], relazioni_forma_visualizzata=[2016], relazioni_forma_normalizzata=[20160101-20161231], relazioni_tipo_data=[], relazioni_luogo=[Modena], relazioni_editore=[Mucchi], relazioni_paese=[IT], soggettivoc=[Autonomia, Ideologia, Leadership, Educazione], subjectvoc=[Autonomy, Ideology, Leadership, Education], note_riservate=, source=, recordInfo=, identifier=IT-GRAMSCI-BIB00001-0021309, recordOrigin=, condizioni_accesso=, dateIssued=20160101-20161231}]

These occasional and apparently random remarks we find scattered throughout the Prison Notebooks are used by Gramsci to refine the concepts of power and hegemony, which they help to formalize. For Gramsci, hegemony is in fact an "educational relation". These remarks enable us to identify certain ambiguities prefiguring those involved in the theories of symbolic domination, and which the critical sociology of education will make great use of. However the remarks also open up other potential paths leading into the heart of the philosophy of praxis, with its focus on the necessary and possible development of a "collective name", intimately associated with the development of a "singular noun". If we avoid the temptation to distort it by granting it a mythical status, the project of the "scuola unitaria" retains its relevance today, insofar as it makes the case for certain potentialities which, till now, have scarcely been actualised through the historical deployment of schooling., table_contents=, titolo_collana=, collocazione=, relazioni_titolo_collegato=[Actuel Marx], relazioni_identificativo=[], relazioni_tipo_relazione=[padre], relazioni_numero_volume=[1], relazioni_numero_issue=[57], relazioni_start=[43], relazioni_end=[61], relazioni_pagine=[], relazioni_forma_visualizzata=[October 2015], relazioni_forma_normalizzata=[20151001-20151031], relazioni_tipo_data=[], relazioni_luogo=[Parigi], relazioni_editore=[PUF], relazioni_paese=[FR], soggettivoc=[Educazione (Pedagogia), Scuola unitaria, Egemonia, Filosofia della Praxis], subjectvoc=[Education, Unitary School, Hegemony, Philosophy of Praxis], note_riservate=, source=Cairn.info, recordInfo=, identifier=IT-GRAMSCI-BIB00001-0020190, recordOrigin=, condizioni_accesso=public, dateIssued=20151001-20151031}]

This paper aims to present the investigation of the political milestones in the work of Gramsci, to discuss certain challenges that "educational research" must face. It is assumed that research in education is also a way of teaching / hegemonic relationship can not be neutral in relation to culture, but primarily as a producer of culture and vision of more elaborate world. Studying issues of epistemology Gramsci requires clarification of what the author understood by organic intellectual and investigative praxis. The thought of Antonio Gramsci takes up the Marxist principle of totality to understand the intellectual activity. Given his conception of praxis category of intellectual gained another meaning. His definition of organic intellectual has become crucial to investigate the research of educational policies and not only educational policies themselves. In this sense, the educational policy is taken as a particular science, it deserves the same criticism that Gramsci does sociology and economics, ie, produces partial truths that must be re-appropriated as part of the entire research operated by the philosophy of praxis.
This paper deals with aspects of Antonio Gramsci’s thinking on education and related cultural work, highlighting issues such as those of effective curricula, different forms of educators/intellectuals, work-oriented education and popular education, which have resonance with contemporary debates in the field. Gramsci’s ideas provide insights for an effective contemporary socialist pedagogical politics that are based on the principle of critical access to ‘powerful knowledge’ and experiences that promote critical thinking, in formal educational institutions and other learning settings.

Cultural policy studies were, in fact, theorised as an anti-Gramscian project between the late 1980s and the early 1990s, when a group of scholars based in Australia advocated a major political and theoretical reorientation of cultural studies away from hegemony theory and radical politicisation, and towards reformist-technocratic engagement with the policy concerns of contemporary government and business. Their criticism of the 'Gramscian tradition' as inadequate for the study of cultural policy and institutions has remained largely unexamined in any detail for almost 20 years and seems to have had a significant role in the subsequent neglect of Gramsci's contribution in this area of study. This essay, consisting of three parts, is an attempt to challenge such criticism and provide an analysis of Gramsci's writings, with the aim of proposing a more systematic contribution of Gramsci's work to the theoretical development of cultural policy studies. In Part I, I question the use of the notion of 'Gramscian tradition' made by its critics, and challenge the claim that it was inadequate for the study of cultural policy and institutions. In Parts II and III, I consider Gramsci's specific writings on questions of cultural strategy, policy and institutions, which have so far been overlooked by scholars, arguing that they provide further analytical insights to those offered by his more general concepts. More specifically, in Part II, I consider Gramsci's pre-prison writings and political practice in relation to questions of cultural strategy and institutions. I argue that the analysis of these early texts, which were written in the years in which Gramsci was active in party organisation and leadership, is fundamental not only for understanding the nature of Gramsci's early and continued involvement with questions of cultural strategy and institutions, but also as a key for deciphering and interpreting cultural policy themes that he later developed in the prison notebooks, and which originated in earlier debates. Finally, in Part III, I carry out a detailed analysis of Gramsci's prison notes on questions of cultural strategy, policy and institutions, which enrich the theoretical underpinnings for critical frameworks of analysis as well as for radical practices of cultural strategy, cultural policy-making and cultural organisation. I then answer the question of whether Gramsci's insights amount to a theory of cultural policy., table_contents=, titolo_collana=, collocazione=, relazioni_titolo_collegato=[International Journal of Cultural Policy], relazioni_identificativo=[], relazioni_tipo_relazione=[padre], relazioni_numero_volume=[19], relazioni_numero_issue=[4], relazioni_start=[399], relazioni_end=[461], relazioni_pagine=[], relazioni_forma_visualizzata=[September, 2013], relazioni_forma_normalizzata=[20130900-20130900], relazioni_tipo_data=[inferred], relazioni_luogo=[], relazioni_editore=[Routledge], relazioni_paese=[GB], soggettivoc=[Educazione (Pedagogia), Cultura, Quaderni del carcere], subjectvoc=[Education, Culture, Prison Notebooks], note_riservate=, source=Ingentaconnect.com, recordInfo=francescogiasi@libero.it, identifier=IT-GRAMSCI-BIB00001-0019363, recordOrigin=MODS.2CB3365EEBEBCB1, condizioni_accesso=public, dateIssued=20130900-20130900}]
