«For each of the cases the activities, attitudes and processes of CEB [Basic Ecclesiastical Community] members are examined according to two different theoretical perspectives on social change: functionalism and Gramscian Marxism.... the study also points out the weaknesses of both functionalism and Gramscian Marxism as theoretical frameworks. The final portion of the study attempts some reconstruction and synthesis of the two approaches to present elements of a more adequate theory of social change».
